Found Objects & Forgotten Projects 4-Day Workshop
Found Objects & Forgotten Projects is a four-week creative workshop all about giving new life to what you already have.
We all have them. Unfinished bracelets, half-started necklaces, bead embroidery pieces that stalled, leftover cup chain, seed beads, focal components, and those “I’ll finish it someday” projects lovingly known as UFOs. This workshop invites you to gather those forgotten pieces and reimagine them as part of one cohesive, one-of-a-kind found object artwork.
Participants will choose a found object to transform. This can be anything from a small statue, tchotchke, or decorative item to something delightfully unexpected. Thrift stores like the Women’s Exchange, Salvation Army, and Goodwill are great places to hunt for your base object. The goal is to upcycle, recycle, and let creativity lead the way.
Over the course of four Tuesdays in February, students will meet once a week for a 2-hour class, allowing time for ideas to evolve and pieces to grow organically. Ellen will work closely with each student, meeting you exactly where you are. Whether you’re incorporating existing unfinished work, starting new bead embroidery, adding bead weaving elements, or problem-solving how everything comes together, guidance will be tailored to your individual project.
This workshop is about freedom, experimentation, and making peace with your beady stash. There’s no “right” outcome. The result will be a truly unique piece of art that reflects your materials, your style, and your creative voice.
Come with what you have. Leave with something finished, meaningful, and completely your own.
